Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Akshaye Khanna starrer Drishyam 2 saw the third biggest opening of Bollywood this year, in terms of the box office collections. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the movie is a sequel to the 2015 movie Drishyam. And, it was released in theatres on November 18, Friday.
A Box Office India report said that the Abhishek Pathak movie made a collection of approximately 15 crore nett on the first day of the release. With a good number of advance bookings, Drishyam 2 has managed to collect well on the opening day.
At the box office, Drishyam 2 managed to make spectacular first day collections after the movies Brahmastra and Sooryavanshi. As per reports, on the opening day, Brahmastra collected 30.37 crore nett, while Sooryavanshi made 26.11 crore nett. Going by that, Drishyam 2 beats Ram Setu and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 that collected 14.84 crore nett and 13.41 crore nett, respectively.

As per the report, with the first day collections of Drishyam 2, the movie becomes the fourth best ever opening for Ajay Devgn. Previously, before Drishyam 2, the actor Singham Returns, Golmaal Again and Total Dhamaal with phenomenal opening, with the first two named releasing on national holidays.
The report further stated that the advance bookings for the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer, during the weekend, look higher. Giving by that, the Akshaye Khanna featuring film is expected to rake a total collection of approximately 50 crore nett on the first weekend. However, the collections are expected to even go higher, in the first weekend.
Meanwhile, Drishyam 2 sees Ajay reprising in his role as Vijay Salgaonkar and Tabu as former IG Meera Deshmuk. The film also see Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, and Rajat Kapoor, in their previous roles. Akshaye Khanna adds to the cast of the movie in the sequel.
