Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Azhar’ grosses Rs. 6.25 Cr on its opening day

Tony D’souza’s ‘Azhar’ starring Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri has opened at the box office with an average collection. On its opening Friday, the film has bagged an amount of Rs. 6-6.25 Cr.

The film had a strong opening on the first half of the day but failed to hold onto footfall in the evening. However, after ‘Raaz 3’ in 2012, this is the highest opening day collection of an Emraan Hashmi film.

Out of the gross first day collection of ‘Azhar’, Mumbai contributed around 2 Cr., followed by Andhra Pradesh which contributed around 40 lakh rupees. The film had a below average collection in Eastern India and parts of North India.

Based on the life of controversial cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, Azhar has hit the theatres on May 13.
