Gadar 2 box office collection: Sunny Deol’s film beats Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, becomes the highest-grossing Hindi film with over Rs 524 crores

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer wreaked havoc at the box office within two weeks of it’s release. It became the biggest opener and highest weekend grosser 2023. And now, within seven weeks of release, the film emerged as highest highest-grossing Hindi film of all time beating Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan. It has earned Rs 524.75 cr.

Week 1: Rs 284.63 cr

Week 2: Rs 134.47 cr

Week 3: Rs 63.35 cr

Week 4: Rs 27.55 cr

Week 5: Rs 7.28 cr

Week 6: Rs 4.72 cr

Weekend 7: Rs 2.75 cr [till Wed]

Total: Rs 524.75 cr

With this collection, has trumped SRK starrer Pathaan. Pathaan earned Rs 524.53 crores in Hindi language. Talking about the Gadar 2 worldwide collection, the film has so far minted Rs 690.24 crores. It is the third-highest worldwide grosser of 2023.

Sunny Deol on Gadar 2 success

At the press conference held by the team when Gadar 2 was going housefull, Sunny Deol expressed he was stressed before release. He said, “I was very stressed, everyone is stressed about something in life because everyone works hard and they don’t want to fail. In my life, I’ve always walked on the path of truth and that’s the most difficult thing to do. But when you attain success, you do feel very good about it. When this film was released, I realised I’ve God’s blessings. I was crying and happy at the same time. I met my father that day, I told him that I’m very happy and going crazy”.

About Gadar 2

Directed by Anil Sharma, the film is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma have all returned to play Tara Singh, Sakeena, and Jeete in the sequel. This time, Tara Singh defies all odds as he has to set his son free from the clutches of the ruthless Pakistani army. The movie was released in theatres on 11 August 2023. At the box office, it competed with Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam starrer OMG 2 and Rajinikanth’s Jailer.
