The new releases of last Friday show no signs of growth. Movies like ‘Sniff’ and ‘Qaidi Band’ are complete washouts, whereas ‘A Gentleman’ and ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ performed badly on first Monday.
Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez-starrer ‘A Gentleman’ has dropped by around 60% on Monday. So, the business is around Rs 1.50 crore nett. The drop is huge on Monday if you compare it to Sunday numbers. On Sunday, the business was Rs 4.50 crore, so clearly, the movie has turned out to be disastrous on Monday.
It’s going to be a one week run for the movie as ‘Baadshaho’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ release this week. The business until now is Rs 13.75 crore nett and that’s quite low considering the budget of the movie. The movie met with mixed reviews and it didn’t quite get a good opening. Talking about the other release ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’, it can’t be termed as a disaster due to lower costs, but it is still very poor as the collections of Monday are bad. The movie did a business of Rs 65 lakh on Monday which is too low a number. The total business of the movie until now is Rs 4.65 crore. Going by the current trend, the lifetime business of the movie will be around Rs 6.25 crore nett.
