Director Reema Kagti’s historical sports drama film ‘Gold’ starring Akshay Kumar in the lead opened to some great reviews at the box office. The opening day collection of ‘Gold’ is around Rs 25.25 crore nett.
Going by the film’s opening day collection, ‘Gold’ has now become the third highest opening day film of 2018. The Akshay Kumar starrer has left behind films like Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 2′(Rs 25 crore), Deepika Padukone’s ‘Padmaavat'(Rs 18.21 crore), ‘Veere Di Wedding'(Rs 10.42 crore), ‘Pad Man'(Rs 9.81 crore), Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid'(Rs 9.45 crore) in terms day one collection.

However ‘Gold’ failed to beat the opening day box office records of some big budget films like Prabhas’ ‘Baahubali 2’ (40.73 crore) Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sanju’ (Rs 34.19 crore), ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (Rs 39.32 crore) Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3′(Rs 27.69 crore), SRK’s ‘Happy New Year’ (Rs 36.31 crore), ‘Tiger Zinda Hai'(Rs 34.12) ‘Dhoom 3’ (Rs 32.48 crore), ‘PK’ (Rs 25.45 crore) among several others.
Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy starrer ‘Gold’ that released this Independence Day, received some great reviews by the critics. And looking at the film’s box office collection it looks like the audience too has liked this film very much.
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner, ‘Gold’ also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, and Sunny Kaushal in significant roles.
