‘Good Newwz’ Box-Office Report: Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer makes a mammoth total in its first week

Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani tickled the viewer’s funny bone with their comic-caper ‘Good Newwz’. The film had a solo release last week and ever since then, it has set the cash registers ringing. In its first week, the film has managed to mint around Rs. 127.90 crores.

Directed by Raj Mehta, ‘Good Newwz’ revolves around the story of two couples Akshay-Kareena and Diljit-Kiara, who are trying to have a baby through IVF. Everything goes for a toss when the couple’s sperms get swapped at the IVF centre.

Trade analyst and film critic shared ‘Good Newwz’s first-week collection. According to the collections, this Akshay Kumar starrer entered the 100 crore club on its sixth-day post-release.

This Friday, ‘Bhangra Paa Le’ and ‘Sab Kushal Mangal’ and ‘Shimla Mirchi’ released. However, all these being small-budget films, they won’t have any impact on ‘Good Newwz’s box-office collection. By the next week, ‘Good Newwz’ might enter the Rs. 2oo crore club.

With no major film this week, it's advantage #GoodNewwz for one more week… Should hit ₹ 150 cr in Weekend 2… Target ₹ 200 cr can be achieved *if* it trends well on weekdays, which, in turn, will help programming in Week 3, when #Tanhaji, #Chhapaak and #Darbar arrive.

Overall, ‘Good Newwz’ is enjoying a smooth run at the box-office. Diljit’s endearing performance and Kareena’s smoking-hot avatar is being loved by one and all. Akshay’s comic-timing too is bang on.
