Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi’ has finally hit the theaters along with Utkarsh Sharma’s debut film ‘Genius’. The film which opened to excellent reviews from critics, as well as the audience, took a slow yet a better start than ‘Genius’ at the box office.
Talking about the first-day collection, the film has collected Rs 2.70 crores whereas ‘Genius’ only collected Rs 65 lakhs. Now, all eyes are on the collections of the first weekend and what ‘word of mouth’ publicity can do for both the films. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted the film’s collection and he says that the film has garnered Rs 2.70 crore on its opening day, which is more than the first day business of Happy Bhag Jayegi. He wrote, “#HappyPhirrBhagJayegi has a slow start on Day 1… Fared better in North… Needs to witness substantial growth over the weekend + maintain a strong trend on weekdays to leave a mark… Fri ₹ 2.70 cr. India biz… First part had collected ₹ 2.32 cr on Day 1.”

The movie is backed by Aanand L Rai and Krishika Lulla. While the first part was based in Pakistan, the second one is set in Bangkok and China. Earlier in an interview with Hindustan Times, Diana Penty had mentioned that “’Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi’ is going to be one crazy ride.”
The film also stars Jassie Gill, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Sheirgill and Piyush Mishra in lead roles. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film released on 24th August.
