Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s film ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ made it to theatres last Friday and contrary to our expectations the film failed to make it big at the box office. It was anticipated that this film will manage to make good moolah at the box office considering Shah Rukh and Anushka’s stardom, but this time, the audience seems to be quite choosy while selecting the film, and ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has not made it. The box office numbers are really disappointing.
As per statistics, in one week, this film has managed to garner approximately Rs 58 crore nett at the box office. The number seems to be lowest for any Shah Rukh Khan film that we have seen in past few years. His last film ‘Raees’ that had made it to the theatres in the month of January this year proved to be one of the highest grossers of 2017 till date. In one week, ‘Raees’ managed to cross Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. Looks like SRK’s gangster avatar worked better than his lover-boy character for the audience. Not to forget, ‘Raees’ had to compete with Hrithik Roshan’s much-awaited film ‘Kaabil’. Despite that, it made good money. ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ failed to continue the trend.
This week, we have Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ making it to the theatres. The anticipation for this film too is very high, but we hope that it does not meet the same fate of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal.’ (Also Read: ‘TEPK’ on its way to become a hit as it acquires 3000 screens)
