Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey had quite the dull opening day with just 3.75-4 crore nett at the box office. The movie did not seem to pick up through the day and looks like it is facing some serious competition from Yash starrer KGF 2 at the theatres. While the big-budget movies have been scoring well at the box office, Jersey seemed to be having a crawling start.
As per a report by Box Office India, Jersey might take a leap on the second day but the report said that the Saturday growth is not the same with content films ‘doing in the 30% range when earlier it used to be 50-60% or even 70% in some cases.’ The Kashmir Files was the only exception to the rule. The report said, “The plus for Jersey is that the film has recovered costs from non-theatrical like digital satellite and music so there is no pressure on theatrical to perform in terms of recovery.”
While it has been easy for the big-budget movies at the box office, making a break at the ticket window has been the Salman Khan starrer Antim – The Final Truth at around 4.75 crore nett. Next on the list has to be Jersey at 3.75 crore nett.

Meanwhile, Bollywood Bubble gave Jersey 4 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “Shahid Kapoor is phenomenal as Arjun. As the hitman raging young Arjun, he’s fire. As the jobless, hungry for respect 36-year old, he’s a marvel. You feel for Shahid in the littlest of scenes. The beauty with an actor like Shahid is that every time you think he’s delivered his finest performance, he surprises you with his next. Jersey will remain one of his most honest and endearing performances.”
