Jersey Box Office: Shahid Kapoor starrer witnesses big drop in first Monday collections

Jersey, directed by Gowtam Tinnamuri has witnessed a major drop in the first Monday collections at the box office. It witnessed a drop of 57% in the fourth day collections of the movie. The Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer was released in theatres on Friday, April 22. The movie had opened with a collection of over 3 crores nett on the first day of the release. The movie Jersey had witnessed a drop in the Sunday box office collections first. The Gowtam Tinnamuri directorial also has KGF Chapter 2, starring Yash in competition, at the box office.

A Box Office India report said that the Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer took a hit on Monday. It managed to collect 1.50-1.75 crore nett at the box office. So far, in the four days of its release, Jersey has managed to make a collection of 15.50 crore nett, in total.

According to the report, “Jersey took a hit on Monday as it collected around 1.50-1.70 crore nett. The drop is 57% which is just too big a drop for a film that did not open. The film had to collect 3 crore nett on Monday or more to stand a chance to get some collections in the second week but it has only done half of that.”

Here are the Jersey Box office collections so far:

Day 1- Friday – 3,75,00,000 apprx

Day 2- Saturday – 5,00,00,000 apprx

Day 3- Sunday – 5,15,00,000 apprx

Day 4- Monday – 1,60,00,000 apprx

TOTAL – 15,50,00,000 apprx

As per the report, “The total collections of Jersey are now 15.50 crore nett and the first week is looking to close at around 19.50 crore nett and then the two Eid releases will come and there will not be much collections there after. The film has faced rejection mainly as the film does not have much scope with mass audience while that audience in the metros which this film may have got before the pandemic is probably less now in numbers as the pandemic changed viewing habits.”

Meanwhile, Jersey also stars Ronit Kamra, and Pankaj Kapur, apart from Shahid and Mrunal.

Bollywood Bubble gave Jersey a rating of four stars in its review.
