David Dhawan’s comic caper ‘Judwaa 2’ has been performing quite well at the box office. In a span of just 11 days, the movie has minted Rs 115.25 crore nett approximately. The second Monday collection of this film was Rs 2.50-2.75 crore nett. It has crossed the collections of ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Tubelight’ and has become the third highest grossing Hindi movie of the year after Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Raees’. This doesn’t include ‘Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’. Now let’s see if the movie manages to race ahead of ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Raees’.
By the end of this week, we are expecting the total collection of ‘Judwaa 2’ to reach Rs 121 crore mark. As the film does not have any major competition from any other film this week, the collections are expected to be high. Clearly, ‘Judwaa 2’ is shinning bright at box office. On one hand where ‘Judwaa 2’ is performing immensely well, on the other hand, Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Chef’ which released last Friday is performing poorly at the box office. The movie did a business of Rs 50 lakh nett on first Monday and that’s a disappointment. The film has witnessed a huge drop in numbers on its first Monday, but it was expected as the movie performed poorly over the weekend. It opened in more than 1500 screens but sadly, it lost out on shows over the weekend due to lack of audience and occupancy. The overall business of the movie stands at Rs 3.85 crore nett.
It is quite clear that audiences are preferring a masala entertainer like ‘Judwaa 2’ over a slice-of-life movie like ‘Chef’.
