Kalki 2898 AD movie starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone is currently on fire. Given that the movie is mounted on a huge scale, the opening day collection of Kalki is as huge as the scale. Without further ado, the movie was just a few crores away from crossing the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. Yes, according to Sacnilk.com, Kalki 2898 AD earned ₹ 95 crore in India on its first day for all languages at the domestic box office. However, Nag Ashwin’s directorial venture collected 27.5 crore in Hindi circuits on Day 1.

This means that the opening day figures have surpassed the earlier record held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan last year. His movie earned ₹ 65.5 crore on its opening day and it has been dethroned by Prabhas starrer Kakli 2898 AD. Not just Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhas also beat Ranbir Kapoor for Animal, KGF 2, Salman Khan starrer Bharat and Tiger 3. Moreover, he also removed his own movie Baahubali 2: The Conclusion from the top 10 list as it comes eleventh now. Now, that’s a great achievement, right?

It’s definitely not worth spending over Rs 1000 (plus money on popcorn, Pepsi and samosa) on it. The buildup is good, however, the wait for what is to come begins. If you are a Prabhas fan, we recommend you watch in theatres, but then again, make sure the ticket doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket.
