Shashank Ghosh’s directorial ‘Veere Di Wedding’ starring two married actresses Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Kareena Kapoor Khan along with Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhasker released yesterday. The film enjoyed a very good first day sat the Box-office by collecting 10.75 crore net approximately.
The film’s innovative concept with the four leading ladies having a fun time onscreen and helping each other overcome the issues they are facing, seems to be appreciated by the cinema-goers. ‘VDW’ doing great business on its first day is a very good sign for such films as it belongs to the lesser known genre- ‘female buddy’ films.
According to a report in Box Office India, the first-day collection of ‘Veere Di Wedding’ is the highest opening day ever for a film which doesn’t have a star as the male lead. The same report states that the first-day collection of this film has beaten the numbers of films like ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and ‘Mary Kom’.
Apparently, the gorgeous leading ladies, their fashion-forward sartorial choices, scenic locations, unfiltered dialogues are something that the audience loved a lot as in Bollywood very rarely we get to see such films celebrating the bond between female buddies.
These collections must have got the makers of the film brimming with joy as this is just day one collection and the graph is expected to go upwards over the weekend.
