Ponniyin Selvan 2 box office: The Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer earns massive on day 1, beats PS1’s collection

Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 which was released on April 28 had a phenomenal opening day. Ponniyin Selvan 2 has started on a good note at the box office. According to the early trends, Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus earned massively on day 1 (all languages), supposedly surpassing the first-day collection of PS1.

Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 box office collection:

According to early estimates, PS2 earned nearly Rs 33-35 crores in all languages on its first day at the box office. The film has garnered positive word of mouth as it raked in good numbers on its opening day. Having said that, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram starrer has surpassed Ponniyin Selvan 1’s opening day collections. The first part had minted Rs 34 crores on its day 1 at the box office.

Moreover, the cliffhanger of Part 1 got all the fans excited and that compelled them to watch the second part in the theatres. Apart from that, PS-2 also boasts spectacular visuals and power-packed performances. Please note, we are still awaiting the official numbers.

Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam’s directorial venture stars Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Sobhita Dhulipala and Prakash Raj. The movie is a period drama which is based on the Chola dynasty.

Bollywood Bubble gave 3 stars to Ponniyin Selvan 2. A part of the review read, “Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 is a worth-watching film, all thanks to Mani Ratnam’s spectacular vision, and its magnificent cinematography. The first half of the movie is nicely knit while the second half can seem like a drag. Last but not least, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram were the showstoppers of PS 2. They were phenomenal.”

Ponniyin Selvan 2 has been released in Tamil and it was dubbed in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu.
