Anees Bazmee’s ‘Mubarakan’ had a poor opening at the box office. The movie minted Rs 5 crore nett on the first day. There were high expectations from Delhi and Punjab due to the local content but strangely that didn’t happen. A growth over the weekend is expected, but it should be really strong as the movie’s budget is over Rs 40 crore. So, it really needs a strong boost in its first week. Since ‘Mubarakan’ is a family entertainer, lots of families are expected to watch the movie over the weekend. It had released in 2825 screens worldwide which included 2350 screens in India and 475 screens in the overseas market. Helmed by Anees Bazmee, produced by Sony Pictures Networks, it stars Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Athiya Shetty, Neha Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Karan Kundra and Rahul Dev. The other release of this week ‘Indu Sarkar’ had a really disappointing opening at the box office. The movie barely managed to do a business of Rs 85 lakh nett. Since the numbers are so low, it’s going to be difficult for the movie to sustain itself over the weekend. However, some amount of growth is definitely expected. The movie has a budget of Rs 7 crore so if it manages some good growth in its first weekend, then it could try to recover its budget in the first week. The movie is co-written, co-produced and directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. The movie stars Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Tota Roy Chowdhury.
Next week, Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ will be releasing so it’s going to be very difficult for both these movies to sustain thereafter. So, the fate of these movies will be sealed until next Thursday. Let’s see how the movies manage to do on the first weekend.
