Shaad Ali’s romantic flick ‘OK Jaanu’ starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor that released on January 13, has seen a decline in numbers on its first Monday. The movie has minted Rs 1.50 crore on the first Monday and that’s quite a low figure. The overall business of the movie is around Rs 13.25 crore. Looking at the numbers, the film may do a business of approximately Rs 16 crore this week. The movie can look forward to recovering its collection from satellite and music rights, but the theatrical business is far from impressive.
The movie had competition from Deepika Padukone’s Hollywood debut ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’, but even that film didn’t set the cash registers ringing, so ‘OK Jaanu’ hasn’t really made the cut.
On the other hand, Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Dangal’ has done a business of Rs 1.25 crore nett on the fourth Monday and that’s quite close to ‘OK Jaanu’ numbers. In spite of releasing in December, Aamir Khan-starrer flick seems to be giving a tough competition to the new releases. The overall business of the movie now stands at Rs 359.32 crore nett.
The numbers clearly show that the audience is up for good content in cinema and romantic stories are not in vogue for the audiences when it comes to watching a film in theatres.
