After a lot of controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ has finally released. The film unfortunately didn’t get a clear release thanks to the protest against it. In four states, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa, the film has not been screened because of which the first day collection has been affected.
‘Padmaavat’ on its day one has collected Rs 18 crore, which is good, but not great. Reportedly, the movie has been mounted on the budget of Rs 200 crore, and a 30 crore opening would have been better for it. However, despite all the controversies and the limited release, ‘Padmaavat’ has beaten SLB’s last release ‘Bajirao Mastani’ on its day one. The latter had opened with a collection of Rs 12.30 crore.
‘Padmaavat’ has done the best in Mumbai with Rs 7 crore coming from there. We can expect the film to grow today at the box office as it’s a public holiday, but the jump has to be miraculous. In its extended weekend, the film has to collect Rs 100 crore to be in the safe zone.
We hope that the protest ends soon and more people go and watch ‘Padmaavat’. (Also Read: Padmaavat movie review: This visual spectacle with rich performances will win you over)
