Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ took a good start at the box office by collecting Rs 17.75 crore on day one. However, the film could have opened with much better numbers had it received a clear release. The movie has been banned in a few states, and in the states it has been screened people were scared to watch the film due to the vandalism threats issued by fringe group Karni Sena.
But, it looks like after day one, people decided to watch the film. On its day two, which was also a public holiday (Republic Day), Deepika Padukone-starrer has showed a fantastic jump at the box office. On Friday, the film collected Rs 31 crore which is excellent. The total collection of the movie is Rs 53 crore (including the paid previews on Wednesday).
Now if the movie holds well today and tomorrow, then we can expect it to reach 100 crore club in its extended first weekend (four days). (Also Read: Padmaavat movie review: This visual spectacle with rich performances will win you over)
