After changing its release date multiple times, Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘PadMan’ has finally hit the screens. The movie has received mostly positive reviews and even the audiences’ reaction has been quite good.
Well, on day one the film has collected Rs 10 crore approx. which is decent. However, while the first day collection of ‘PadMan’ is good, it has failed to beat the first day collection of Akki’s last five films.
‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ had collected Rs 11.34 crore on day one.
The first day collection of ‘Jolly LLB 2’ was Rs 12.06 crore.
‘Rustom’, which was inspired by a true story, collected Rs 13.92 crore on day one.
Meanwhile, the collection of ‘Housefull 3’ was Rs 15.24 crore, and this was surely because of the franchise factor.
Talking about ‘Airlift’, the film on its day-one had collected Rs 11.12 crore.
It’s clear that ‘PadMan’ has failed to beat the first day collection of Akshay’s last five films. However, we cannot ignore the fact that the movie is about menstrual hygiene, so we are sure family audiences would be hesitant to watch it. However, looks like the movie will show a growth over the weekend because of the positive word of mouth. (Also Read: PadMan movie review: Story of an ordinary man who spun wonder out of life’s straw)
