Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘PadMan’ opened to a decent business of Rs 10 crore nett. Even though, the numbers were decent, the movie failed to beat the opening day business of his earlier movies like ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Rustom’, ‘Jolly LL.B 2’ and so on.
Now, the movie has showed good growth at the box office on its second day. ‘PadMan’ has raked in Rs 13.50 crore nett on Saturday taking its two-day business to Rs 23.50 crore nett. The growth is around 35% which is good, but still lesser than ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. (Also Read: PadMan movie review: Story of an ordinary man who spun wonder out of life’s straw)
‘PadMan’ showed good growth in Mumbai circuit whereas in South India, the movie has performed better than ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. The growth of the movie is similar to ‘Jolly LL.B 2’, however, the latter flick had much more audience last year.
This time, in spite of ‘PadMan’ postponing its release from Jan 25 to Feb 9 to provide a clear window to ‘Padmaavat’, SLB’s movie is still in theatres and doing well. So, some business is bound to get affected. Let’s wait to see how the movie performs on Sunday.
