Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Raees’ took a good start at the box office. Though the film has received mixed reviews from the critics, Shah Rukh Khan’s fan following has done wonders for it. The first day collection of the movie is approximately Rs 20.25-20.50 crore. Whereas, Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ directed by Sanjay Gupta managed to accumulate Rs 10.43 crore on day 1. In comparison with ‘Raees’, ‘Kaabil’ had less screens and probably that is why there’s a huge difference in the collection.
Reports state that ‘Raees’ has done well in Gujarat, West Bengal and South India. However, the collections in Delhi and East Punjab were strictly okay.
‘Raees’ is expected to grow today because of the public holiday. The film will do quite well over the long weekend. But, the main test of the movie will be on Monday as such massy films do well over the weekend, but then fall on weekdays.
Directed by Rahul Dholakia, ‘Raees’ also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.
