Rani Mukerji’s ‘Hichki’ does better than expected at the box office on day one

Rani Mukerji-starrer ‘Hichki’ had created the right buzz before its release. But, because of the niche appeal, the movie was never expected to take a fantastic start at the box office.

Everyone had expected that Rani’s comeback film would take an opening of around Rs 2-2.50 crore. However, the film has surpassed our expectations and has collected Rs 3.25 crore on day one which is decent. Rani’s last film ‘Mardaani’ too had collected in the equal range. The first-day collection of ‘Mardaani’ was Rs 3.44, but we cannot ignore the fact that it at least had some mass appeal, while ‘Hichki’ is strictly for multiplex audiences.

As the reviews are positive and the word of mouth is also good, we can expect ‘Hichki’ to show a good jump at the box office over the weekend. Talking about ‘Raid’, the Ajay Devgn-starrer has done a good collection on its eight-day by collecting Rs 3.25 crore. With that, the film’s collection stands at Rs 63.85 crore.
