Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer Shaakuntalam has recorded a slow start on the first day, at the box office. Directed by Gunasekhar, the film was released in theatres on April 14, in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. On Day 1, in terms of the collections, Shaakuntalam managed to rake in only Rs 3 crore. As per the reports, on the first day of the release across all languages, the Samantha Ruth Prabhu movie has not performed well at the box office.

Shaakuntalam made collections of Rs 2.43 crore in Telugu, on the first day, according to a report by Sacnilk. On Day 1, the Samantha starrer collected Rs 0.4 crore in Hindi, Rs 0.15 crore in Tamil, and Rs 0.02 crore in Malayalam, respectively.
So far, the highest collections of the movie have been recorded from the release in Telugu, according to the numbers. As per the report, Shaakuntalam earned the second-highest national collections in Tamil, followed by Hindi, and the least collections from the Malayalam release.
Taking to Twitter, Radhakrishnaentertainments shared an update on the movie, along with its overseas box office collection. Going by the numbers, the movie did phenomenally well in the overseas market. The Samantha starrer raked in 175K dollars and counting, from the USA, despite the poor national collection.

Meanwhile, Shaakuntalam stars Dev Mohan and Mohan Babu, too.
Bollywood Bubble gave Shaakuntalam a rating of three and a half stars in the review. The Shaakuntalam review heaped praise on Samantha and Dev Mohan, for their stellar performances.
