‘Thappad’ Box-Office Report: The Taapsee Pannu starrer struggles to gather numbers

Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Thappad’ hit the theatres on 28 February. The movie starred Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Dia Mirza and Ram Kapoor. The movie is said to have a slow start at the box office on Friday. Film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the Day 1 collection of ‘Thappad’.

Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Thappad – which started low in morning shows – gathered speed post noon onwards… Metros – especially #Delhi, #NCR – registered healthy growth towards evening and night shows… Occupancy should multiply on Day 2 and 3… Fri ₹ 3.07 cr. #India biz (sic).”

Talking about ‘Thappad’, the movie revolves around the life of a married woman who gets slapped by her husband and later files a petition of divorce against him.

Bollywood Bubble’s critic Prateek Sur, wrote about the movie, “The film has been so nicely written that every minute detail and nuance comes out visibly strong. There are things that are not spoonfed and layered in the dialogues, which when you listen to make you realise how often even you use them in your day to day life totally ignorant of the fact as to how sexist it might sound if heard with scrutiny.”
