Seems like the audience that Salman Khan has built over the last few years, is not yet ready to accept the new, vulnerable avatar of the actor, wholeheartedly. What else will you say when the collections over the week are much lesser than the recent Eid offerings of the superstar?
After having an average weekend and Monday collections, the collections of ‘Tubelight’ on its first Tuesday dropped even further, even though total earnings are inching towards the 100-crore mark.
The Tuesday collections were Rs 11.75 crore, taking the collection to Rs 93 crore nett. At this rate, though we can expect the movie to cross the 100-crore mark by the end of this week, we can’t deny that the performance is strictly average, considering that it is a Salman Khan movie, released on Eid. However, if this is respite for the makers, the movie at least stands above most of the Bollywood releases of 2017, which were dismal, to say the least.
‘Tubelight’ was helmed by Kabir Khan, and also starred Sohail Khan in a pivotal role. It marked the debut of Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and child artiste Matin Rey Tangu.
