‘Udta Punjab’ earns Rs 47.50 crore in first week

The first week collections of ‘Udta Punjab‘ have been decent with around Rs 47.50 crore. Although, it could have done better on weekdays. The weekends were good, but the weekdays were average. Considering the fact that it’s a dark film, the collections are fairly okay because our audiences have still not opened up to dark thrillers completely.

The film has earned close to the lifetime business of ‘Haider’ in one week. So barring Delhi / UP and East Punjab, it will be recording similar figures to ‘Haider’. North India alone will be getting in 75-80% of its extra business. The film has done well in East Punjab (9 crore approx) and Delhi city. The eighth day will be crucial to see where the film stands considering the fact that the other films that hit theatres today look weak.
