Varun Dhawan’s ‘Judwaa 2’ emerges a hit on day 2 at box office

Though Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu-starrer ‘Judwaa 2’ may not have been a hit amongst the critics, the family-entertainer has definitely connected with the masses. This remake of 1997’s hit film ‘Judwaa’ that had Salman Khan playing the double role has emerged to be a hit at the box office. On first day the film had collected approximately Rs 16 crore at the box office and on day 2 the film has witnessed a spectacular jump. ‘Judwaa 2’ minted approximately Rs 20 crore on day 2, taking the total collection of the film to Rs 36 crore. With this, ‘Judwaa 2’ has become the third highest second day grosser film of the year 2017. The first position is held by ‘Bahubali 2 – The Conclusion’ while second position is conquered by Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’.

Definitely the nostalgia factor has worked for ‘Judwaa 2’ and people are flocking the theatres to revisit the iconic film. It also has an advantage of being a solo release. ‘Judwaa 2’ has not clashed with any other film and hence, people do not seem to have an option but watch this film. Adding upto this is the advantage of long weekend. Being October 2, it’s a holiday on Monday and hence we are expecting ‘Judwaa 2’ to mint lots of money over the weekend.
