While ‘Chef’ disappoints in its first week, ‘Judwaa 2’ remains strong in its second

Last week, Saif Ali Khan-starrer ‘Chef’ released and it started off on a disappointing note. Now, after a week, the movie has only managed to rake in Rs 5 crore nett which is too low a number. Looks like this movie is on the path of becoming the lowest-grossing Saif-starrer since the millennial, apart from flops like ‘Ek Hasina Thi’, ‘Being Cyrus’ and ‘Nehlle Pe Dehle’. The movie stands at the 43rd spot for this year when it comes to its box office numbers.

Talking about David Dhawan’s comic caper ‘Judwaa 2’, it had a good run even in its second week. The movie has done a business of over Rs 121 crore nett. It has been a superhit, and seems like it is going to be the biggest Hindi hit flick of the year. At this pace, it can even dethrone, ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’, which stands as the highest grosser right now. If we have to consider the nett business, then ‘Judwaa 2’ is at the third spot as Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Raees’ stands at the first spot (Rs 128.77 crore) and Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ stands at the second spot (Rs 132.07 crore). The two week business of ‘Judwaa 2’ is approximately Rs 1 crore nett less than the two week business of ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ which stood at Rs 122.19 crore nett. ‘Judwaa 2’ will have to cross the third week and the fourth week business of ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ which was Rs 7 crore nett and Rs 2 crore nett respectively, but there seems a low chance as Diwali will have two biggies like ‘Secret Superstar’ and ‘Golmaal Again’ enter the scene. Anyways, the movie has already become a superhit, but sadly, Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Chef’ turned out to be a disappointment.
