Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani came with their romantic drama SatyaPrem Ki Katha (SPKK) at the box office on June 29. The film had an Eid release and the holiday opening, along with the positive word of mouth, helped the film collect well on opening day. It had an opening of Rs 9.25 crores and the film maintained that pace on Day 2 as well.
SatyaPrem Ki Katha Day 2 box office collection
After a strong opening day, SPKK faced an expected nominal dip on Day 2 since it was a working Friday. However, the dip isn’t that much proving that the audience have accepted the film. The film collected Rs 7 crore on Friday, taking its two day total to Rs 16.25 crores.
A breakdown of SPKK box office collection:
Day 1: Rs 9.25 crores
Day 2: Rs 7 crores
Total: Rs 16.25 crores
SPKK is expected to grow over the weekend as the word of mouth has been really good for the film. It is heading towards crossing Rs 35 crore mark at the box office in the extended 4-day first weekend. What works in the favour of the film is that there is no big release for almost a month now to compete with it.
On July 7, Vidya Balan starrer murder mystery drama Neeyat will hit the theatres. However, the film is still from a niche genre. So, until Karan Johar directed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh hit theatres on June 29, SPKK has a chance at a clear run. It won’t be a surprise if the film crosses Rs 100 crores lifetime collection.
SatyaPrem Ki Katha review
Starring Kartik and Kiara, Satyaprem Ki Katha is directed by Sameer Vidwans with Sajid Nadiadwala backing it. The film also features Supriya Pathak, Gajraj Rao, Shikha Talsania with Rajpal Yadav in a cameo. It has received mostly positive reviews and at Bollywood Bubble, we gave SPKK 3.5 out of 5 stars. A part of the SPKK review read, “SatyaPrem Ki Katha is a decent attempt on telling a poignant issue. It has its flaws at points but Kartik and Kiara make the film a worthy experience with their performances. Watch it for Kiara’s excellence if nothing else.”
