With this, the film will revolve around Draupadi’s view of the epic as written in the award-winning Odia novel ‘Yajnaseni’ authored by Pratibha Ray. The film will offer distinct yet contemporary view of her character resembling power and patience. The co-producer of the film is Dev Adhikari who confided in the artistic view of the acting abilities of Rukmini Maitra. The film also stands co-produced by Prateek Chakraborty who also expressed his excitement in re-creating this epic version in Bengali avatar.
Bengal’s leading actress Rukmini Maitra says, “It’s pleasure to reunite with Ram Kamal after Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan, because he makes me feel comfortable in characters that are extremely challenging to portray on screen. Guess, these are the little perks that you enjoy while working with a friend. He has been wanting to make Draupadi, but he waited for the right time. It’s an honour to be a part of Mahabharata, a subject that is so close to every Indian. Needless to say this will definitely be one of the most challenging role in my career after Binodiini.”
The actress took to her Instagram handle announcing her next as she captioned, “Based on the novel “Yajnaseni” by Smt.Pratibha Ray, here goes my next.. DRAUPADI (folded hands icon) Need all your love, support & best wishes as always!(heart emoji and folded hands icon).”
Meanwhile, the actress is thrilled to collaborate with Ram Kamal for the second time. Justifying the role of Draupadi is significant given the fact that the cultural and religious ideas and thoughts are attached with the same. The background music for this film is composed by Sourendro and Soumyojit. Meanwhile, Ram Kamal Mukherjee wrote the Sanskrit verses on the posters. The director expressed his gratitude to the producers as well as Pratibha Ray as well as Rukmini.
Given this, Draupadi film will be all about re-telling the epic tale through the eyes of Draupadi. Along with this, the film will also entail the grandeur of this mythological epic on the Bengali big screens
