EXCLUSIVE: Aayush Sharma reveals being a background dancer in Ranbir Kapoor’s YJHD; recalls how a director told him ‘get out’ during auditions

Actor Aayush Sharm may have started his Bollywood career with Salman Khan production film Loveyatri but he still faced some hardships during his initial days. Recalling the time when he wanted to get into business, Aayush revealed that he was a background dancer in Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani song Dilliwali Girlfriend. During the candid interview with Bollywood Bubble, Aayush recalled his moment on the sets of the movie for the very first time.

“The first time I came to Mehboob Studios was for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Someone told me ‘Why are you working as a background dancer.’ I said that I wanted to see what a film set looks like and to see how the shoots happen. I couldn’t find a job as Assistant Director. At one point, I wanted to become a casting director, thinking that I could get on the set through this. I remember that I had a shoot for YJHD at Mehboob Studios. It was a beautiful moment as there were 300-400 background dancers and I was one of them. Then I saw Manish Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and then I saw Ranbir Kapoor entering the set for the Dilliwali girlfriend song shoot.“

Recalling his audition memories and how he gave an audition with only Rs 20 in his pocket. During the conversation, Aayush happened to share a memory when a director asked him to ‘get out’. He said, “I hold my memories close to me. It’s funny sometimes to think that some casting directors have rejected me before and now when I meet them, they tell me that I liked your films. They don’t even remember that they rejected me before.” Adding that there was one director who even told him to get out.

Meanwhile, Aayush Sharma is gearing up for the release of Ruslaan which is an action-packed entertainer. Directed by Karan L Butani, the movie also stars Jagapathi Babu, Sushrii Mishraa, and Vidya Malavade in pivotal roles.
