An actor’s entourage cost has been making headlines for quite some time ever since some of the celebs highlighted this as a concern. Speaking about the same, in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Abhishek Banerjee was asked to comment on entourage cost that sparked a debate after filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. He said that the power is actually in the hands of the directors and producers. He also feels unfair that the actors are blamed for it because it’s not their fault.
Abhishek Banerjee on actors’ entourage cost
The Stree 2 actor said, “Who is he talking about? Mostly superstars, right? Okay fine, but who made them superstars? I don’t understand this when producers and directors say that because I think the option is always with them. I’ve read many interviews of Irrfan Sir where he mentioned that after Maqbool, big directors were not ready to work with him. Whose fault is that? Is it Irrfan’s fault that after Maqbool, he had to wait to be cast in a lead role? Whose fault is it? I mean, I love Anurag Sir, but I see the thing is, blaming actors isn’t fair because it’s not their fault. It’s about how you are treating them. If you’re giving everything to the bigger stars, then… I mean, yeah…“
“As for the new actors who are emerging and who might need those things, it’s because they also feel their worth. But you wouldn’t say this to a well-known actor, would you? I’m not against anything or anybody, whatever the culture may be—great, no problem. But let’s say someone is a star kid, right? Then they’ll automatically get it. Nobody’s going to ask them for a CV. The interaction is more like, ‘Oh, they are from this family, we have to give them that.’ They’ll be given a vanity van, etc. So, if there’s a new actor who has worked hard to reach that level and needs those things, why shouldn’t they get them? They have worth, right? If they’re not giving that worth, then fine, don’t give it to them,” he continued.
