Anjumm Shharma on his conversation with Farhan Akhtar
Shharma recalled shooting a scene from the movie and waiting for another shot when a staff member of a senior actor approached him, saying the actor wanted to meet Anjumm. Out of respect for the actor, Shharma went to meet him.
Anjumm said, “So now it’s just him and me, and until now we had met and worked together, and then we’d go our separate ways, talking to the directors. This was the first time we were sitting in such an intimate space, so we had a little chat about what was going on. He told me about himself, and from that, I realised that he’s not just a good actor but also an aware citizen. He talked about stopping the car at traffic signals, which made me understand how responsible he is. These kinds of conversations were happening, and in the middle of the conversation, he asked, ‘What else are you doing? What do you want to do?'”
He further continued, “Without thinking, I said, “I’m just doing this, and I really want to work with good production houses and good people.” I mentioned the names of a couple of production houses, and then I mentioned Excel Media Entertainment, saying that I really want to work with them too. He said, “Of course, you will do it, one day.” And after that, he didn’t emphasise it much, and neither did I. The conversation ended, we went back to shooting.
Anjumm on working with Excel Media Entertaiment
“This happened in 2015-16. Now cut to 2018-19, and something comes to you. You get a show, which is going to be the biggest show in the country, and it’s being produced by Excel Media Entertainment. So, these stories are so interconnected, and I never thought that something like this would happen. That person also, without much thought, just casually gave me good wishes, saying, “Oh, you will do it,” and it was such a design that I don’t know what it was, but suddenly it happened,” Shharma concluded.
When asked if the conversation took place on the sets of Vazir and whether the actor was Farhan Akhtar, Anjumm smiled and noded approvingly. For the unversed Excel Media Entertainment is a production house founded by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
