Asha Negi on losing projects due to TV background

Asha Negi – who initially played pivotal characters in TV shows, gets candid about whether her television background has resulted in her being typecast or being approached for certain kinds of roles. Answering in the affirmative, the actress said, “It did, it does. I feel especially when you have previously worked in something that really worked then it does. It does typecast you. And I mean it’s okay, I believe everything has its pros and cons.”

She continued, “Pros because people acknowledge me because of the role I did. They know me from the show. I got a lot of fame and love from that show. But then you know a lot of times people reject me for being from a TV background, they don’t say it to you to your face but yes. There are a lot of times that you may be rejected for this reason. People would also say you are overexposed to the audience or something like that.”

During the same chat, Asha Negi also revealed she has been rejected for certain projects because of her TV background. She said, “It is never said to you on your face. But I am very much sure that this discussion does take place behind (closed doors) among the crew.”
