EXCLUSIVE: Asha Negi feels it’s ‘cheating’ for actors to be cast for their popularity and not talent

Asha Negi is an actress who is known for her work in Hindi television productions. She is best known for playing Purvi Deshmukh Kirloskar in Zee TV’s soap opera Pavitra Rishta and Gauravi Karmarkar in Alt Balaji’s web series Baarish. She is also known for her participation in the reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Asha Negi opens up about casting artists just because of their social media presence and not their talent. She also spoke about shedding her image. Scroll to read more.

When asked if a person’s social media presence, following and engagement have an influence on them being cast in films and shows. Asha Negi answered, “See if there is a person who is talented, it is great. But if you are picking someone with more followers over somebody who is more talented then I don’t think so. It’s not right. It will be wrong. Woh toh cheating hogaya naa abhi.”

Asha Negi on shedding her image

During the same conversation, the Pavitra Rishta actress revealed that she never really shed her image as a cute and bubbly girl. She said, ” Yaar, I never really tried to shed that image of mine. I think I was just looking to do something different, something more meaningful. I mean if I have made that kind of an image let it be. Because I feel people related the most to it. Shedding that image I didn’t do it consciously but I always wanted to keep trying. Like, you know nowadays Instagram is like your profile. So a lot of times people do photoshoots in a way they wish to be cast. Like if you want to be in Sanjay Leela Bhasali’s project you might want to shoot like he does in his work. So, I just kept on working on myself. And yaa it just happened.”
