Chahat Pandey is an Indian television actress who has portrayed lead roles in shows such as Hamari Bahu Silk, Durga–Mata Ki Chhaya and Nath. Pandey – who made her acting debut with the 2016 show Pavitra Bandhan, has appeared in the crime dramatisation series Savdhaan India and RadhaKrishn. The actress is now all set to participate in the most controversial show on Indian television – Bigg Boss 18.
Ahead of entering the Bigg Boss 18 house, Chahat Pandey spoke to Bollywood Bubble and got candid about several things, including BB being her first reality show, if acting will take a back seat now that she’s entered politics and more. Read snippets of the exclusive interaction below.
Chahat Pandey on choosing Bigg Boss 18 as her debut reality show
Upon being asked why she chose Bigg Boss 18 as her first reality show, Chahat Pandey replied, “Because I had a Bigg Boss offer and my goal was to go to Bigg Boss. I wanted to experience how we can survive without any connection from outside. And people who don’t know us so I wanted to experience me.”
When asked if she got any offers from Bigg Boss in the past, the actress replied, “During the lockdown phase I had a conversation to join Bigg Boss, but it didn’t work out back then. So I have got an opportunity right now for this season.” When asked why did she not accept the show back then, Chahat answered, “It was not that I didn’t accept it. It was during the lockdown, and it didn’t work out back then.”
Chahat on choosing between acting and politics
The actress has recently entered politics and was asked if acting is a backseat for her now, to which she answered, “No, not at all, I was just shooting Nath and I completed a thousand episodes of it. So it was not a backseat but my goal was to do something for people from where I belong. That’s why I came to politics. If I get a chance, when I am given a chance, I will do something for sure. But I am doing acting, I am not doing anything for sure. I don’t think it would work out if I leave acting.”
Chahat Pandey – who is known for having a vocal nature, was asked if she would carry this nature in the Bigg Boss 18 house. To this, she replied yes, of course.
Chahat on work culture on TV show sets
The Pavitra Bandhan actress was asked about the work culture on show sets and the delayed payments that have been faced by many actors. Asked if she had ever faced such a situation, Chahat Pandey said, “Yes, I have faced it on TV. Himaara ek show aata that Zee TV pe, usme bahut payment issues the. I think this was during the lockdown phase and then after a year there was a settlement, and then we got our payment. We got a lot of good decent amount. It was sorted later.”
