Shilpa Shirodkar on Bigg Boss 18

When asked why she agreed to participate in Bigg Boss 18 and not in any of the earlier seasons, Shilpa Shirodkar replied, “I never got only a call to come earlier.” Adding that earlier she wasn’t in the country also, Shilpa continued, “But I got this opportunity now and I think everything falls in place at the right time for the right reason. So I’m all prepared (for this season)”

Revealing if she fears how she will be judged by the audience once she enters the BB18 house, Shilpa says, “Honestly, if you ask me one good thing about Bigg Boss is humko pata hi nahi bahar kya ho raha hai.” When pointed out that host Salman Khan does reprimand them for their shortcomings on the weekend, the actress said, “But he has so many people to talk about, scold, shout, mentor – I think his shouting is also like mentoring. Because I’ve been an audience of Bigg Boss, I think, tomorrow if he is telling you something, it is because he wants you to get better.”

She continued, “So if you don’t understand that little thing then it’s a waste of time. So I am not worried about being judged because it’s everyone’s perception. Jab main as a audience dhekti thi toh main bhi yehi karti thi. Monday to Friday I also used to have judgement and then Saturday-Sunday it used to be different because…” She further stated, “So for me, I am going there without any planning-plotting, no strategy. I’m going there because for me… I’m like a fan girl. It’s like a dream come true for me to go on the show.” She added that she plans on making memories while on the show.

Shilpa on acting comeback & Ek Mutthi Aasmaan

Talking about her comeback, Shilpa said, “When I came back in 2009, I came back after I lost my parents, so acting was never on the cards. The reason I came back to India was to be close to my sister because that was the need of the hour. I was not looking at working again. And then I did a show called Ek Mutthi Aasmaan on television and it changed my entire career graph. The amount of respect I got and the amount of love that I got doing television, I reached every household. I never got as much love, and adoration as much I got in those three years doing television.”

Revealing if her past co-stars like Govinda, Mithun Chakraborty and others approached her to return to acting during her break, Shilpa said, “After marriage when I shifted to London, Dada (Mithun) had come to London and he came to meet me. It was so much fun. He came with like seven people and we had such a blast. I made kheema pav that day and he ate it with me. It was really, really nice. You know, this industry is full of beautiful people. It’s just that when you are not working, the need to stay in touch with you is not constant. But automatically when you start working again the relationships get revived. So it’s okay. People ask, ‘You don’t have friends in the industry?’ I say ‘No, because I’ve moved so far away.'”

Shilpa: I was with Namrata when I got the news

Talking about the first person she shared the news with of her going to Bigg Boss 18, Shilpa Shirodkar said, “As in family? I was with my sister only in Hyderabad.” Stating that her sister, Namrata Shirodkar, was okay with her saying yes to BB18, Shilpa continued, “She knows that I love Bigg Boss. Main ab bol bol ke thak gayi hu (laugh).” She continued, “We don’t advise each other, we only listen to each othe. We both have only each other for ourselves. So there’s no ‘You should do this, you should do that. I know if I ever need her she’ll have my back and if she needs me I’ll be there for her.”
