EXCLUSIVE: Casting Director Anmol Ahuja calls Aamir Khan a genius, recalls him recommending Zaira Wasim for Secret Superstar, says, “If he’s not involved, we start having problems”

Aamir Khan is a prolific actor and he is known as Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood. The actor not only focuses on delivering breakthrough performances but also believes in giving a chance to new talents. He has done that with several films and one of them is Secret Superstar. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, film’s casting director Anmol Ahuja recalls how Aamir Khan recommended Zaira Wasim and called him a genius.

Anmol Ahuja was involved in casting process of Secret superstar. When asked how it was working on the film, he says, “It was a lot of fun working with Advait Chandra. I got the opportunity to work one-on-one with Kiran Rao, so the learning experience was great. I got the chance to audition Zaira Wasim who is not our find. She was in Dangal and Aamir Khan told us to audition. That audition process was a lot of fun. Kabir was a child who played Zaira’s younger brother. When we did his audition, I knew that he was the boy they wanted.”

We further asked him if Aamir Khan interfered in a project he was involved in. To this, Ahuja says, “There is no interference, but involvement is there. If Aamir sir is not involved in a project, we start having problems. I would like, in my life, to have Amir Sir’s involvement in every project I’m working on because he is a genius. His suggestions and enthusiasm keep the project moving. Because if he is doing it, we have no reason to doubt. We have no reason to say no.”
