Devi Sri Prasad is popularly known as DSP and is a renowned music composer, lyricist and singer as well. Predominantly, DSP is known for his work in Telugu and Tamil Cinema. He has composed music for popular movies including Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise and he is composing music for Pushpa 2: The Rule. Recently, DSP was honored with the National Award for the Best Music Director for Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise.
Now, Devi Sri Prasad sat down with us for an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble. He had a candid chat with us and recalled how he celebrated the win of the prestigious National Award.
DSP shares how he got to know the news of winning the National Award
We asked the National Award winner Devi Sri Prasad how he felt receiving the National Award. To this, he said, “Whether I did Dhinka Chinka, Daddy-Mummy or whether it is single songs, not only in South, but North and Indians all over the world have always given me that love. So, thanks to all of them because it wouldn’t have been possible without all of them.”
Speaking of winning the National Award, he said, “I think National Award is one award that is on the top most list of any Indian movie artist or technician. So that is the biggest honor that we could get. A lot of big musicians have been appreciating the song. Srivalli or the experiment that I did in Oo Antava with just four notes or Saami Saami or Ae Bidda. When you receive so much love and appreciation and above that the biggest feather in your hat is winning the most prestigious award, I think I am hugely blessed and I am always grateful.”
The moment of winning a National Award
Further, he also shared how he got to know the news that he had won the prestigious award. He said, “I didn’t even know which day or which part of the time they were being announced so I was just in the flow of my work. Suddenly, I get a call from my team who knew that they were going to be announced or they tried reaching me. So they called and said ‘it is going to be announced, so you please watch’. When it started, I started getting calls and everything happened in a jiffy.“
He added, “Even before I could digest, people started calling me. And I didn’t know how to respond to that first. It was an unforgettable and the best moment. As soon as I knew it, the first call I did was to my mom. I told her to comeback and we can celebrate. And then immediately I went to my guru’s house Mr. Mandolin Shrinivas anna. I went to his house and prayed to his picture.“
Further in the video, Devi Sri Prasad also shared how Samantha Ruth Prabhu was cast for the famous song Oo Anatava from Pushpa.
