Nikkhil Advani recalls Rani Mukerji recommending Sharvari for Vedaa

Apart from directing Nikkhil also contributes in writing his films. During the chat we asked if he thinks of casting during writing stage. He shares, “I think the best thing that happened, I was very clear that Vedaa should not have the baggage of having a massive star and whatever. I just wanted somebody to be really fresh and refreshing and not have any image attached to her. But that changed because now Sharvari is a blockbuster heroine and we are releasing this film. I can’t do anything now because we are releasing this film (chuckles).”

Heaping praise on Munjya actress, the director shares, “I think that what Sharvari brought to Veda was just commendable. She was hungry to really bring this character alive and take her down that journey. So I knew who Sharvari was because Kabir Khan had worked with her in The Forgotten Army and whenever we met he was all praise for her.”

Recalling how Rani Mukerji recommended Sharvari, he shares, “When I was shooting for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway with Rani Mukerji in Estonia and we were just sitting around. She then asked me what’s my next project and I shared the idea of Vedaa. Rani immediately recommended Sharvari. She said ‘I am sending Sharvari to you. You take her number and call her up right now.’ And Rani, you can’t say no to her. It’s not possible. So I just said, yeah, okay. She kept on insisting, ‘I am telling, you call her up.” And then I think then the universe also conspired because she wanted to also come and catch up with me.”
