After giving blockbusters like Raaz and Murder 3, Mahesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt are busy promoting their new film Bloody Love. The film features Avika Gor and Vardhaan Puri. This spooky romantic tale has already released and fans are loving it. During a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mahesh Bhatt was quizzed about the on set details and difference between him and Vikram Bhatt and the director candidly shared his opinion.
Mahesh Bhatt said, “Well, I don’t see any difference between his (Vikram Bhatt) way of functioning today and my way of functioning yesterday. He is, of course, by nature a more patient person and not prone to the kind of outbursts that I was prone to. The production team would step back, and five assistants would hide, especially if there were junior artists on the set. But I was very generous with my actors; I was very protective. I love my actors, and I have great respect for them because it takes a lot.
Bhatt says he finds usage of mobile phones on set offensive
What I find very offensive today is that on movie sets, because of the mobile phone and smartphone, the moment the director says “action” and for the duration of the shot, instead of everybody being keyed in with the shot and with the breath of the actor, they go into their smartphones. The actor senses this insensitivity. The insensitivity of the workforce is unforgivable.”
He further says, ” If I were to go on a set, which I will soon, with Shita or his company, I would bring a whip and whack people if they dared to do that. The actor is turning their insides out, and they sense it. It’s the most scary thing to be in that position. Try holding a smile for a picture, and imagine doing that for a whole shot. I think Vikram is very patient, but if I had to direct, I would do it differently. I would be stark in asking them to draw out something but very gentle and fatherly to bring out something from them. So, I don’t think anything is different.
Vikram Bhatt on the same
Vikram Bhatt said, “Well, I just think what is different is something called agencies. Whenever you approach an actor, they ask if they can read something. Then you send them something to read, and I don’t know who’s reading it, but whoever is reading it is probably a student of cinema or something. But at the rate at which they’re reading, we should have a hit every week, and every actor should be making some mind-blowing decisions. I think that the actors—if you’re talking about Sanju and actors you’ve worked with—worked with instinct; they worked with heart. When they heard a narration from a director, they would look into the eyes of the director and say yes or no. And that’s how films were made.”
Mahesh Bhatt also recalled how Ajay Devgn said yes to him for the movie Zakhm while having a shower in Chennai.
