Divya Dutta praises megastar Amitabh Bachchan
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Divya Dutta recalled fond memories of megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Stating the Big B “has my heart,” the actress said, “I think I feel very, very lucky that (I worked with him).” She continued in Hindi, “It’s been a beautiful journey. To be able to work with a person you look up to as a legend and as a mega star is a dream. And then to one day get a call from him saying, ‘You are invited to our Holi party.’ I was just holding my phone in awe that Mr Bachchan had called. And of course, after that, a beautiful bond was made.”
She continued, “And then he unveiled my first book (Me and Ma). He told me to just let me know when and where it’s happening. I wanted the foreword to be written by Shabana Azmi and she wrote it. As it was a book about my mother I wanted the launch to be grand. My brother asked, ‘Who do you want?’ I said, ‘Amitabh Bachchan.’ He said then message him and I was like, ‘What are you saying?’ He said, ‘Message him.’ I was unsure about it as I didn’t want to offend him with the request.”
Divya: had my ‘Rang Barse’ moment in front of Amit ji
Divya Dutta continued, “My brother was like, ‘Take the change, message him.’ I messaged him in the evening and was continuously checking if I got a reply. And then I saw a reply, ‘Let me know where and what time, I’ll be there.’ How generous of him. I think these mega stars are not just megastars for no reason, there is that magnanimity in them. There’s that generosity in them, that sensitivity in them that makes them who they are.”
Recalling the Bachchan Holi party she was invited to, Divya said, “I attended the first Holi party that used to be held at the Bachchan’s residence. I had an amazing time there. People threw me in a pool of colours and all. I had my ‘Rang Barse’ moment in front of Amit ji, so it was lovely.”
