EXCLUSIVE: CBFC to lift the ban from Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 by next week, here’s what we know

With the recent controversy around Adipurush hurting the religious sentiments of many people, a lot of other films dealing with subjects of religion have come under the scanner. Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam’s OMG 2 (Oh My God 2) also faced a roadblock recently. As per media reports, the film was put on hold by the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC).

All about the OMG 2 controversy

Some reports said that the film is likely to be banned. The makers were even told to delete the teaser of it. Another news report was that CBFC had objections over certain dialogues in the movie. While others said that since the plot revolves around LGBTQ and homosexuality is why the censor board was taking longer than usual to clear it.

As per the latest updates, CBFC has sent Akshay Kumar’s film to the revision committee as a preemptive measure.

What’s the current status of OMG 2?

A source close to the development has now informed us exclusively that the film will most like get its certification by next week. The source says, “After what happened with Adipurush, the CBFC has gotten extra careful about films that deal with subjects of God and religion. For the same, they want a revision committee to see the film thoroughly.”

The source even stated that certain objections were raised on social media with regard to the film’s teaser as well. So that also needs to be reviewed. However, it’s not a hold or ban that will stop the film’s release, OMG 2 will hit the theatres on 11th August.

What is the objection to OMG 2?

Since the film portrays Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, there are certain nitty gritties that are being paid attention to. A particular scene that left netizens offended was where Akshay was seen bathing under a tap on a railway track. Netizens feel he is bathing in the drainage water of trains. Secondly, it is reported that the film lays some emphasis on the importance of sex education and talks about homosexuality, this might lead to objections from some other fronts too.

OMG 2 stars Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Arun Govil as well. The film is directed by Amit Rai.
