EXCLUSIVE: Richa Chadha wants to change 80% of world governments, says “Kahi na kahi something is going wrong”

Richa Chadha may have had a small role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar but she left an impact with it. Richa’s portrayal of Lajjo will leave you in tears, hoping she had some more screen time. During a recent exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the actress got candid about her role, career, co-stars and lots more.

During the same podcast, Richa Chadha also spoke about wanting to change world governments and the reason she thinks it’s needed. The ‘Fukrey’ actress also revealed why her colleagues keep away from talking about politics.

Richa Chadha on wanting to change world governments

During a past interaction, Richa revealed that if she had 3 wishes, she would ask the genie for the power to change a government for the betterment of its people. When asked if she would still like the power today and what she would do with it if she’s granted it, the ‘Heeramandi’ actress said, “Bahut saare desho ki sarkar badalna chahungi. I think 80% desho ki sarkare badalna chahungi. Aapko nahi lagta ki duniya kahi aur hi jaa rahi hai? “ (I would like to change the government of many countries. I think 80% of world governments need to be changed. Don’t you think the would is moving in the wrong direction?)

She continued, “Matlab joh… aaj se 30-40 saal pehle middle-class salary pe log bahut lavish life jee nahi sakte the par apna ghar toh affort kar sakte the, apne gaadi affort kar lete the, scooter affort kar lete the, kuch toh karte the. Thoda peace tha unke life mein. Khana – joh humme ab mil rahi hai, (tab) thoda sa saaf tha. Dudh mein milawat kam thi. Hawa thodi saaf thi. Paani saaf that. Toh yeh kya hua? “ (30-40 years ago, people could survive on a middle-class income. Even if it wasn’t luxury living, they could fulfil some dreams like owning a home, having a vehicle and such. There was peace in their life. Back then the food we ate was cleaner so was the air and water. But what’s happening now?)

She added, “Matlab, we are supposed to develop but we are going in reverse. Mujhe lagta hai kahi na kahi something is going wrong… in most countries in the world.” (We are supposed to be progressing, but we are moving backwards. I feel some is wrong in most countries.)

Richa on why actors don’t talk about politics

Talking about why her fraternity members generally shy away from talking about politics, the actress says, “Joh journalist ki com hai, woh dhundti hai na clickbait. Woh bhi headlines ko misrepresent karte hai, clips ko chota karte hai. Toh mere fraternity wale log darr jaate hai. ek wajah woh hai.” (Journalist search for clickbait content. They post misinterpreted headlines and small clips. Members of the fraternity are scared.)

She continued, “Dusra, har koi smart nahi hota. Har kissi ke pass har muddha ka jawab nahi hota. Aur har kissiko zaroorat nahi hai ispe bolne ki. Some people say, ‘I don’t know enough, I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t want to get involved.’ Humlog ne dhekha hai, logo ko pareshan kiya jata hai jab unki galti nahi bhi hoti.” (Another reason they don’t talk about politics is they are not smart. Also, not everyone needs to speak about everything. Others prefer distancing themselves owing to other reasons. I’ve seen people be harassed for their opinions.)

Revealing if she faced the brunt of being vocal about politics, Richa said, “Filaal toh nahi.” (Not till now.)
