Fardeen Khan on his comeback with Heeramandi
When we asked Fardeen why he decided to take a break from Bollywood, he replied, “Aap keh nahi sakte zindagi mein kis mod pe kya hota hai. Isse pehle 2010 mein meri aakhiri release thi, Dulha Mil Gaya. Aur kuch personal reasons ki wajah se maine ye theek samjha ki 2-3 saal ka break chahiye iss industry aur kaam se. Mujhe apne family pe concentrate karna tha. Lekin jab meri beti paida hui toh woh teen saal 6 se 8 saal ban gaye aur fir mera ladka paida hua. (You never know where life takes you. My last release was in 2010 and then due to personal reasons I decided to take a break. During this time, my daughter was born and a 3-year break just kept extending. After that my son was born). And then it just got longer and I was a full time dad.”

Fardeen on feeling like a newcomer
He further added, “I was happy doing that but I missed being a part of what I do, what I have grown up doing, watching and learning. Aur inn 12 saal mein kaafi kuch badal gaya hai, audience’s badal gaye hai, jis tarah ki picture bante hai wo badal gaya. Mai ek newcomer ki excitement se waapis laut aaya hu aur ussi attitude se kaam kar raha hoon. (Be it audience or the kind of content that is being made nowadays, a lot has changed in the last 12 years. I am back with the excitement of a newcomer.) But I am grateful that I got to make a comeback with this project. It’s a dream for any actor to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”
Talking about his future plans, the actor shared, “While I am excited and nervous, I am also curious to know what kind of roles directors and writers will offer me after seeing my work. It’s not often that you can take a gap for so long and still be remembered and get an opportunity. I am excited for my children to see my work as I will be introduced to a whole new generation of cinema lovers.”
Apart from Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha and Aditi Rao Hydari also shared their experience of working on Heeramandi. Watch the full interview here:
