EXCLUSIVE: Gurmeet Choudhary recalls Debinna Bonnerjee financially supporting him when he was jobless, says, “That male ego comes when….”

Gurmeet Choudhary and Debinna Bonnerjee are one of the most loved couples of tinsel town. The fell in love on the sets of their debut show Ramayan. While Gurmeet successfully transitioned from tv to films, the actress is a successful vlogger. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the actor shares his fairy tale love story and reveals how his wife was a great support when he was out of work and financially struggling.

Talking about his love story with Debinna, the actor shares, “When I first saw her, I knew I want to marry her. And I was so much in love with her, that I eventually gave my best in that relationship. I even felt like I am Shah Rukh Khan from Darr as it was my madness and obsession for Debinna. And she was doing South Indian films with big stars at that time while I just had a splendour bike. Unfortunately I could not even afford petrol. But there was a lot of love. When she noticed that, she also reciprocated the love through which I got support. And later, since we were together, we corrected each other’s mistake. We were almost like a husband and wife at a very young age, even though we weren’t married. The relationship was strong that no one else could come into our lives.”

He also shared how he and Debinna managed to meet for 15 minutes despite shooting at different locations. “We are both best friends, and we are also enemies. We sometimes fight over silly things and later laugh at ourselves. So, I think fights are also very important to understand that there is love between us”, added the actor.

The Geet actor also recalled the time he took a break from acting as he wanted to make it big in films. He shares how Debinna then took up financial responsibilities and he feels proud of it. The actor states, “When you’re in a relationship, you should support each other’s work. And your partner’s work should also become your dream. So my dream of becoming a star and working in the film industry is also Debina’s dream. My dream became her dream, and her dream became mine. So we both work with a lot of balance. Sometimes the biggest thing that matters in the industry is what whether you’re doing good work and working with good people. Because many times it happens that the work you’ve done doesn’t succeed, but reaching the public is very important. So to stay relevant there, you need to pause, it requires patience.”

The actor added, “I remember during the lockdown, we were just sitting around. But Debina’s channel, you know, Debina’s and she herself is among the top three influencers in India. She was continuously working and our house was running from that income. During the lockdown, when we were all at home, I was sitting around with no work. One of my films was in the middle of shooting, but it also stopped, and the flow of money stopped. In our industry, our lifestyle is such that there are so many expenses. So Debina managed everything.”

He concluded saying, “Now Debinna is doing very well, and I feel proud. You know, we both support each other so much, and we also motivate each other. Sometimes, when I become lazy, Debina scolds me and vice versa. So, I think we both balance each other out and move forward. I feel no shame. If my wife is doing good work, I should feel proud. That male ego comes when you don’t want to let your wife advance.”
