EXCLUSIVE: Karishma Tanna recalls facing rejections for being ‘too tall’ and a ‘TV actor’

Karishma Tanna is one of the best actors in the TV industry. She has been an actor for quite a while now and has explored different roles time and again. Apart from doing fictional shows, she has also tried her hand at reality shows like Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi and Jhalak Dhikhhla jaa. Right now, the actress is widening her horizons and entering into the OTT field with her web-series Scoop. Recently we sat for an exclusive interview with Tanna where she spoke about several things, but mainly about facing rejections.

Karishma on facing rejections…

Facing rejection is a part of every actor’s life, and time and again, various actors have opened up about it. As the conversation got candid, the Bollywood Bubble host asked the Scoop actress if she had ever faced rejection. The Sanju actress spoke her heart out and said that she has faced several rejections. She further said, “I have heard that all my life, how many times that I can’t count only now. But yeah, when I get to hear that it is kind of humiliation also and dejection. And at the same time I am confused also that why are you putting any actor in a category. Why are you kind of categorizing.”

She further spoke about how people have created different types of boxes like TV,OTT and film. Karishma Tanna further commented, “Why can’t the lines be blurred. An actor is an actor. In the past, it was a very strong line between a TV actor and a theater actor and a film actor. Now things are changing. Things are now becoming a little more easier. But things are difficult for TV actors. Everybody respects a TV actor but kaam milega woh mushkil hai”

Later, the Bollywood Bubble host asked Tanna what were some of the rejections that she faced. Karishma Tanna said, “They have given me some odd reasons only, you’re too tall, or you are on TV every day, so we can’t take you. No, you’re not fitting the part, too glamorous for the role. After a point I had this thing in mind, Ki milne wala to nahi hai, lekin chali jaati hu.”

Talking about Karishma Tanna, the actress is going to appear in a web-series named Scoop. In the web series, she plays the role of a crime journalist.
