The actor recently featured in The Railway Men which shows the contribution of the Indian Railways in saving the people during the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Kay Kay Menon reflected on how Sarkar helped him cement his place as a promising actor. He also spoke about winning awards for Haider and called that as a way of boosting ego.
Kay Kay Menon on Sarkar getting him recognition
We asked the actor if he felt Haider was a game-changer for him. He cited how Sarkar was a turning point for him and what success means to him. The actor asserted, “Rather than commercial aspect, different kinds of cinema matter for me. But I think that happened with Sarkar for me. People had come to see Mr Bachchan and they got a Bonus along with that. So that is the place where I got actually recognized in my career after which I didn’t have to introduce myself as an actor. I could say I’m Kay Kay. That was a change.”
He further added, “I’ve done uh so-called so mainstream kind of movies. I have done movies like Singh is Bling with Akshay Kumar, Flying Jatt, among others.”
Kay Kay Menon on value of awards
Talking about receiving awards for Haider and how he perceives it, Kay Kay shared, “For me the word the best actor doesn’t exist. It’s the wrong term. The best can happen in the field of sports, but the moment you get it into the Arts then there is no objectivity. For me I don’t know why it’s there. All it does is boost your ego and you feel that I’m great. That’s all it does. I still feel that if an Award is to be given also it should be conferred as a token of appreciation for your work in the film.”
