What was your reaction when you received the call?
Actually, the director liked one of my previous audition tapes and wanted me to audition for this part. I was stunned when I found out about this. Getting a call out of nowhere from the AD of this amazing project, and learning that the director had specifically asked for my audition – I was speechless. And when I discovered that Akshay Kumar sir was in the film, I got goosebumps. I poured everything into that audition. When I heard I was on board, I was over the moon. It felt unreal – like a dream come true. That call wasn’t just about a role; it was the start of an incredible journey.
What was your first interaction with Mudassar Azim when you met him on sets?
My first interaction with Mudassar sir on set was truly wonderful. He was one of the sweetest and most welcoming people there. His warmth immediately put me at ease, which I deeply appreciated as I was quite anxious on my first day. He took the time to chat with me, asking about my background and previous experiences. He gave clear guidance but also encouraged me to bring my own ideas to the character. This approach really helped boost my confidence and allowed me to give my best performance.
Why did you say yes to Khel Khel Mein?
Saying yes to ‘Khel Khel Mein’ was an easy decision because I was getting the opportunity to work with Akshay Kumar sir, who has been my childhood hero. It felt like a dream come true to share screen space with someone I’ve admired for years.
What was that aspect of the script or your character that interested you the most?
The entire package – the star cast, the director, the script, and my character – all came together to make this an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. It felt like the perfect project to kickstart my film career. As a newcomer in the industry, I felt that ‘Khel Khel Mein’ would provide me with an incredible learning experience and a platform to showcase my abilities. Mere liye yeh bohot badi baat this.
How was it working with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan and Taapsee Pannu on Khel Khel Mein?
It was truly great. Everyone on set was incredibly approachable and welcoming. We all bonded very well, especially over food during our breaks. Akshay sir, in particular, was amazing to work with. He’s not just a brilliant actor but also one of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met. His energy on set was infectious it really motivated everyone around him. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the entire cast. Each person brought their own lovely aura to the set, which created a positive and fun environment. This made coming to work each day a joy
Your most special memory working with the star cast
It’s hard to pick just one special memory because those 10 days in Udaipur were truly magical. Every day brought new experiences and learning opportunities. Watching how these experienced actors carried themselves on and off set, how they prepared for their roles, and how they interacted with everyone on the team, it was all a tremendous learning experience for me.
What are your thoughts on being an outsider in Bollywood?
I don’t see myself as an outsider. Everyone starts somewhere. The biggest stars did too. If you’re talented and good to work with, people accept you. The audience decides who they want to see more of. Sure, some have an easier entry, but that doesn’t guarantee success. Everyone has to prove themselves through their work. That’s what I learned on ‘Khel Khel Mein’ it’s dedication and professionalism that count, regardless of background.
Actors and directors on his wish list
I’ve been lucky to start by working with Akshay Kumar sir, one of my childhood heroes. My dream is to also work with Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. I believe it’ll happen. For directors, I’m keen to work with Rajkumar Hirani, Amar Kaushik, Karan Johar, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Each has a unique style I admire.
