EXCLUSIVE: Mahesh Bhatt ‘resisted’ his relationship with Soni Razdan: I told her to stay away or else ‘I’ll destroy you’

The filmmaker met the budding actress soon romance blossomed between the two. Breaking all conventionalities the gorgeous actress tied the knot with the much-married filmmaker. Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan’s love story too began the same way on the sets of Saaraansh. Soon the two fell in love and dated in secret as Mahesh was already a married man.

Mahesh Bhatt was a married man when he met Soni Razdan and fell in love with her. Speaking about their romance the filmmaker said, “I resisted, I resisted it, but I was drawn into this relationship I remember telling Soni the line which is there in Raaz I said don’t come close to me I’ll destroy you.”

He also recollected the time he had gone to meet Soni, he had worn shoes instead of his usual sandals.

Recollecting the incident the filmmaker said, “whenever we fall in love we feel unworthy of the person whom you’re in love with. So I said how do I become worthy of her? Therefore I wore shoes and I felt so uncomfortable. She looked at me and that made me even more uncomfortable.

“I remember we were sitting down in a hotel in Worli and I told her, I said, ‘Don’t come very close to me I’ll destroy you’. There’s a dialogue we use in Raaz, “tum mere qarib mat aa main tumhe barbaad kardunga(Do not come close to me I will destroy you)” and she says “main barbaad hona chahti hoon( I want to be destroyed)“, Bhatt further added.

After dating each other in secret for many years Mahesh Bhatt, Soni Razdan tied the knot in 1986. The duo went on to have two daughters: Shaheen Bhatt and actress Alia Bhatt.
